2012年1月4日、一足先にひとりで帰省先から戻った私の家に、 いつもテニスをご一緒させて頂いているオーディオ好きの Ｉさん が遊びに来て下さいました。昨年、いちど遊びに来て下さって以来、2回目となります。

娘が生まれた直後から、いろんな音楽を聴かせてきました（笑）。

フランク・ザッパ（主に Burnt Weeny Sandwich とか Weasels Ripped My Flesh とか Yellow Shark 辺り）、 セロニアス・モンク（主に Prestigeレーベル時代 のをSPとかLPとかで）、 デューク・エリントン （主に1920年代〜1930年代頃のホットな奴をSPとかCDとかで）、 ジェームス・ブラウン （驚くことに尊師JBの音源はどれをかけてもお気に入りのようです）、 ジョン・ゾーン （特にお気に入りは 「The Circle Maker: Zevulun」 の模様） その他いろいろ。

要は私が普段聴いている音楽ということですが。もちろん 子供向け音楽 もかけたりしますし、娘なりのお気に入りはいろいろあるようですが、 「スナッキーで踊ろう」にハマりまくって踊りながら全コーラス歌ったり、最近では「Heroes And Villains」のいろんなパートをつぎつぎ鼻歌で歌っていたり（笑）と、みているだけでかなり面白いです。

エレクトロニカ風ポップもかなりお気に入りの様子。Guther なども自作のダンスを踊りながらエセ英語で歌詞をつけるありさまです。今年に入ってからは、私の長年のお気に入りレーベルのひとつである MORR からの作品、Pascal Pinon にハマってくれたようで、これをかけていると本人も相当心地よさそうにしています。ある意味で、子供向け音楽と言えるかもしれません。

ディジタルリリースは既に行われていますが、CD および LP はまもなく発売です。サントラでインストなソニック・ユース。とりあえず LP を予約しておきました。わくわく。

二才児が聴いても楽しめ、音楽好きの大人が毎日聴かされても全く飽きることのない、UA さんによる良質のコンセプトアルバム的名盤です。子供の有無に関わらず、全日本人必聴ともいえます。

This CD album is a kind of “masterpiece” with good conception - my two-years-old daughter loves to listen to this every day, and I as a music addict won't get bored even I have to listen with her every day. It can also be said that every Japanese, whether he/she has a child or not, should listen to this album.

昨年リリースされていた本作品。気にはなってたもののすっかり忘れていて、結局買ったのは先週でした。幸い国内でも LP でリリースされていたので、当然ながらそちらを購入。

This album was out in last October. I was thinking to take a listen, but I completely forgot to buy one. Anyway I found a LP version of this album last week - that's why this is here.

仕事で東京に来ていたヨットさんに誘ってもらい、高円寺の U.F.O. Club でのライブに行ってきました。Vampire のライブを観るのは (京都以来) ? 年振り。対バンの皆さんもそれぞれに魅力的で、平成のジャックス (?)、パンク化したソフトマシーン (Alian Social Dance Party)、ニューウェーブパンクの生き残りが変拍子化 (これが Vampire ね)、ジョンボーナムが加入したライド (これは Overhang Party - 最高!) と形容出来るかの如きバラエティの豊かさ。現在進行系のロックに触れることは呼吸することと同義であることを再認識しました。いやー気持ちえがった〜、しかし久し振りの爆音で耳がおかしくなりましたよ . . .

私が好きなタイプの音楽が多くラインアップされている、ドイツの MORR Music レーベルから 2005年2月にリリースされたアルバム。昨年暮れに購入してから、最近徐々にターンテーブルに載せる頻度があがってきました。CD と共に LP でも同時リリースされており、こちらは 2枚組 (1枚目が33 1/3回転、2枚目が45回転という変則な組合せ)。もちろん迷うことなく後者を購入しました。

This album, released in February 2005 from German label MORR Music (whose catalogue contains many titles I like), was the one I bought last year. Recently I often pick up the album and enjoy the music. The album is available both in CD and LP format (the latter is double LP format, disc one in 33 1/3 rpm and disc 2 in 45 rpm) - of course I bought the album in LP format with no doubt.

Now the world is keeping an eye on FIFA World Cup - How are you doing everybody? I was busy watching Roland Garros until last Sunday, and now I am just worring about how the 2006 Wimbledon will be like :)

ワールドカップの TV 観戦に夢中になっている皆さんいかがお過ごしでしょうか。つい先日まで全仏オープンの TV 観戦に大忙しだった私は、今年のウィンブルドンがどうなるかで頭がいっぱいなのですが (笑)

Well, I just came across this double LP album in last month (when the album was just released). Firstly I thought it was good but not superb. However, everytime I play this album, I just come to like it better and better - it would be the masterpiece?

それはさておき、この2枚組 LP アルバムを購入したのは先月のこと (なのでリリース直後に買ったことになります)。最初は、まあこんなものかしら、という程度の印象でしたが、聴けば聴く程、このアルバムが素晴らしいものに感じられてきました。もしかしたらこれはとんでもない名盤なのかしら。

    

以前 MORR MUSIC の web で試聴して、いいなーと思っていたものの、まだ買っていませんでした。 先日、近所の某店で中古 LP が出ていたので捕獲。2002年 9月リリース。

A while ago I listened to their sound samples at MORR MUSIC's web site and thought I like 'em. However, I just forgot to buy the album. Then the other day I found a used vinyl LP of this album at a local seller... This album was originally released in September 2002.

あっという間に2005年は過ぎ、2006年を迎えました。今年も宜しくお願いします。

The year 2005 passed so fast, and here comes the next year 2006 already. I sincerely hope you'll have another nice year as vinyl/music collectors.

昨年1年間は、コレクターとしてはあまり成果があった年とはいえませんでしたが、またまたいろんな音楽に出会うことができました。振り返って個人的ベスト 5 (プラス、番外編) を列挙してみましょう。

Speaking of myself, the year 2005 was not the best one as a collector, but there are several “great” acquisitions as well as finding a great music. Here is my own “best five” (plus an extra title) ...

LP というメディアに飢えている 私にとって、新譜が CD と LP で同時にリリースされているジャンルというのは本当に有り難いものです。いわゆる ポストロック や エレクトロニカ というジャンルもその 1つですが、私が他のジャンルでそうする様には、体系的な知識やアーティストについての情報に全く疎く、いつも購入する際には一種の勘と言うか、ジャケットを手に取った時の第一印象というか、そういうトリガーでもって買う事が多いのがなんとも。

For me, who always has thirst for vinyl media itself, musical categories/genres on which both LP and CD releases are constantly provided are very innevitable and gratefully appreciated. Post-Rock and Electronica applies to such categories. However, unlike other musical categories such as Rock, Jazz, R&B, Soul and Classical, I don't have any systematic knowledge about musicians and the scene of Post-Rcok / Electronica, and that's why I always pick up and buy LP albums by a kind of inspiration and instinct when I saw the jacket cover itself.

さて、このテのジャンルのアルバムなんですが、現在進行形であるせいもあってか、あるいは私の音楽的嗜好が旧時代人に属するためか、玉石混合といいますか、何度も聞き返す程気に入るアルバムになかなか出会えずにいます。それでも、1年に 2〜3枚は「ををっ」という感動を与えてくれ、愛聴盤として頻繁にターンテーブルにのるアルバムに出会うことが出来ます。ここに紹介するアルバム (2004年リリースですが購入したのは2005年初頭でした) もそんな 1枚です。

By the way, it's very difficult for to encounter spine-chilling great albums on such musical genres (either because Post-Rock and Electronica is an on-going “present progressive” scene, or because my musical taste is just too old...). Still, I could happen to meet two or three great albums a year. This album (obtained in early 2005, but firstly released in 2004) is such an album for me - the disc often sits on my turntable nowadays.

このアルバムのタイトル「Demo Crazy」を見た時、真っ先に思い出したのはあの偉大なミュージシャン Fela Kuti のことでした。彼は democracy をもじった、意味深な「Democrazy」というタームを提唱したのでした。

I remember the phrase of this album's title “Demo Crazy” - the phrase should remind us of the late Fela Kuti, who was (of course) a great Afro artist and who originally coined the meaningful phrase “Democrazy” (not democracy).

この 2枚組 LP の、独特の形状をしたゲートフォールドカバーを開いた時、目にとびこんできたのは、幾多の Damon Albarn の殴り書きの中にあった「DEMOCRAZY IS A FELA KUTI CONCEPT」という文字でした。それを見た時なんだか意味もなく嬉しくなりました。また、Damon Albarn さんが Fela Kuti の音楽を知っていた (恐らくとても好きなのでしょう) ことに驚きもしました。

And when I opened this unique gatefold cover of the double LP, I was so glad (meaninglessly though) that I could find “DEMOCRAZY IS A FELA KUTI CONCEPT” among many other scribbles written by Damon Albarn. I was also surprised that Damon Albarn knew (and might love) the music of Fela Kuti.
