SIDE-B YMG20066B MF2    A1    I

Comments

Aug. 1, 2004: replaced with earlier pressing (matrix imprints with YMG prefix and MF suffix, which indicate very early pressing in 1954 - early 1956 era). My previous copy (as seen below) had an indicator “III” both on the labels and the back cover, as well as matrix imprints with smaller MG prefix (MF4 F-S / MS2 F-S). This was probably one of the early 1960s pressings. Please compare these photos with early pressings' (seen at the bottom of this page).

Inside The Groove

A typical post-war dance band sound in the 1950s - but it really swings!

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

This album, although most of the songs were not so attractive for me, was inevitable only because it contained a great tune “Castle Rock”. The band swings, honkers blow hard... it's a nice tune.

And as I get familiar with such dance big band music, I really come to like this album - it's not a thrilling jazz full of improvisations, but this stylish swinging band sounds attractive.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

7 out of 10
