Inside The Groove
Yet another famous honker's album.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
Sil Austin. He is also a famous honker on Mercury label next to a superb bad honker Red Prysock (actually Sil and Red recorded an excellent album together - “Battle Royal”).
By the way, Sil later became more famous and popular for his ballards and easy-listening records, like “Danny Boy” and “Ruby” on the album “Plays Pretty For The People” (MG-20424).
This album, released just after Sil's big hit single “Slow Walk” (reached #19 on popular chart in 1956), is a collection of his nice honking ensemble. As the title says, most tunes (especially Side-B) are in middle tempo - so we cannot enjoy his hottest erupting honk. In order to fully get entertained, we must go further for his brilliant single releases, which I haven't get yet.
Yet Sil plays very hot, especially throughout Side-A. A very good album.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
8 out of 10
