EmArcy EMS Series
Preceded by the original EmArcy Series
(
16000 Series: 7-inch single,
26000 Series: 10-inch,
36000 Series: 12-inch
),
and EmArcy MGE/SRE Series which was active in the very short period
in the middle 1960s
(
26000/66000 Series
),
EmArcy label was reborn in 1976, under the name of
“The EmArcy Jazz Series”.
This series consists of compilations of past EmArcy/Mercury recordings.
Some titles feature scarce tracks (previously released only on 78rpms/45rpms)
as well as previously-unreleased tracks.
It's a nice and comprehensive series which introduces
great Jazz recordings on EmArcy and Mercury labels.
By the way, Blue Note was releasing the previously-unreleased recordings (by Michael Cuscuna) under “Blue Note Re-Issue Series” project in the middle 1970s. I guess this EmArcy EMS series was probably started under the influence of Michael Cuscuna works on Blue Note.
