Mercury Wing 12000 Series (budget reissues/compilations)

Wing label started its life as one of the subsidiary labels of Mercury, and 12000 series was used for Popular releases (60000 series was for Jazz releases). However, Wing label itself ceased its release in a short period (less than 10 titles), then 12000 series titles were re-issued as Mercury series. Later, Wing label re-started for releasing budget compilations and reissues (12100 and on). These budget releases started probably in 1958.
Catalogue numbers of this series have SRW (Stereo) or MGW (Monaural) prefix. Only exception is WC (Stereo), which was probably used for a short period just when monaural issues faded out.
To make matters complicated, there are several variations on these releases:
for example, some releases of MGW-12106 contains 12 tracks, while others
came with 10 tracks. Such “minus two tracks” releases were
later pressings. Luckily, we can identify the difference by close-looking
at the label number (MGW-12106 for 12 tracks version,
MGW-12006-W for later 10 tracks version).
