Wing 60000 SeriesWing label started its life as one of the subsidiary labels of Mercury, and 60000 series (from MGW-60000 to MGW-60005) was used for Jazz releases (12000 series was for Popular releases). However, Wing label itself ceased its release in a short period, then all 60000 series titles were re-issued as EmArcy series (from MG-36091 to MG-36096). So as for these six LPs in Wing 60000 series, Wing is the original issue. Later, Wing label re-started for releasing re-issues at low prices. According to the Ruppli's discography, there is a catalogue number MGW-60007 which was probably unreleased (MGW-60006 was not assigned). The album which should become MGW-60007 later released as Mercury MG-20231 (matrix stamps on the dead wax may prove the evidence). BTW I am not certain why MGW-60007 was released not from EmArcy (like other Wing Jazz releases), but from Mercury. Catalogue numbers of this series have or MGW prefix. In preparing this page, Mr. Masaya Hasegawa contributed at his best, and provided me a number of cover/label photos from his own collection. We must thank him for his great contribution!
