Inside The Groove

Milt Jackson's interesting quintet session featuring McCoy Tyner.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Milt Jackson in a new setting - with Jimmy Heath on tenor and McCoy Tyner on piano (who recorded on John Coltrane's legendary “A Love Supreme” album in the same month). Most of the tracks are in three-minute range, but there are wide variety from the ballads, blues to bop-type tunes.

The entire mood is based on Milt Jackson's marvelous vibraphone sound. McCoy Tyner adds the modal flavour, and Jimmy Heath sits on top with very typical Jazz tenor textures. A good one.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

8 out of 10
