MG VOL.14: Jazz At The Philharmonic Volume 14
CommentsAll seams completely split: I tried restauration with white tape from inside (and looks very fine visually) Inside The GrooveOne of the legendary sessions of the Mainstream Jazz jam session by many Jazz greats. Personal Impression (and brief notes)This session, from April 1946 in Los Angeles, features such giants as Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins and Buck Clayton. Unfortunately here, Charlie Parker, doesn't deserve his best. Lester Young digs rather better (in his post-war era). Coleman Hawkins and Buck Clayton pushes too hard as always. A-1 (I Got Rhythm) is a great blowing jam session - Great! Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)8 out of 10 Track Listing
PersonnelLester Young (ts), Coleman Hawkins (ts), Charlie Parker (as), Willie Smith (as), Buck Clayton (tp), Kenny Kersey (p), Irving Ashby (g), Billy Hadnott (b), Buddy Rich (ds). Recorded live at Embassy Auditorium, Los Angeles, April 22, 1946. related informationJackets
