MG-25076: Jazz Journey / Chubby Jackson & Bill Harris All-Stars

[Front Cover] Label Type : black/gold Mercury type A
Matrix Number : SIDE-A MG25076A
SIDE-B MG25076B

Comments

Early pressing with thin paper-type sleeve (compare with the 2nd pressing with thick cardboard sleeve).

Later reissued as EmArcy MG-26003 (with different song order, minus two tracks).

Inside The Groove

A great mainstream session by ex-“Herman Herd” musicians, of original Keynote recordings.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Chubby Jackson is a famous bassist, who contributed the important part of legendary Woody Herman's First Herd and Second Herd in the 1940s. Here in this album, compiled from three different sessions (originally recorded for Keynote label), Chubby and his Herd pals (such as Bill Harris and Dave Tough) plays so swingy.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

9 out of 10
