Inside The Groove

A compilation featuring Keynote's first and second bebop sessions and a jazz in transition (from Swing to Bop), all from original Keynote recordings.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Side-A features Dave Lambert and Buddy Stewart with Red Rodney's Be-Boppers. As the lineup of the members suggest, this session is absolutely a fine example of Be-Bop in its early era. Al Haig's piano is great.

B-1 and B-2 features Neal Hefti's Orchestra - a nice swingy session by pretty arrangements.

B-3 and B-4 features Red Rodney's Be-Boppers. Again, thrilling bop session heard here.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

8 out of 10
