Comments

Some of the tunes are also available on EP-1-6148.

Feb. 5, 2005: replaced with the earlier copy (with YMG prefix and MF1 suffix on both sides). My previous copy (with no silver rim on the label) had “MG 36020A MF4 A1 I” and “YMG 36020B MF1 B1 I” on the dead wax.

Inside The Groove

A nice female vocalist Kitty White's 1st leader album on EmArcy, with a quintet consisting of famous West-Coast players.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Kitty Jean White was born as Kitty Bilbrew and raized in musical family - her parents were singers, and her uncle was a well-known vaudevillian and disc jockey, according to the liner-notes. Then she started her singing career as a singer and a pianist. She appeared on such local night clubs as the Hob Nob, the Club Gala, the Haig and The Captain's Table.

When Kitty branched out and opened at the Black Orchid in Chicago, IL, she was introduced to the executives of Mercury Records, and she became a Mercury recording artist.

This LP, her first EmArcy/Mercury album, features Kitty White's elegant vocal style. She concentrated on singing, while Gerald Wiggins took over the keyboard. Other members in the accompanying group are all well-known West-Coast musicians to help Kitty to establish a beautiful and jazzy mood on every track.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

7 out of 10
