Inside The Groove

A compilation of two distinct sessions by Quincy Jones and Roy Haynes, from original Swedish Metronome recordings.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Side-A: Quincy Jones' first leader session through his entire career. Quincy Jones was a member of Lionel Hampton's band when the band toured Europe. At the time, Famous Swedish label Metronome recorded so many sessions by the members of Lionel Hampton band. This is one of them. Members consist of talented American jazz players who were also in the Lionel Hampton band, plus top Swedish players. Quincy Jones, who was 21 when the session was recorded, already wrote great arrangements like heard on this album.

Side-B: see MG-26048 (10-inch 1st issue).

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

8 out of 10
