Comments

FR pressing: sound/press quality is nice. Although this copy is not the very first variation (earliest copies should have matrix imprints with “YMG” prefixes and MF suffix), this still can deliver great monaural sound!

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

This is the first Mercury recording of Petrouchka by MSO and Dorati - recorded in monaural only. Four years later they re-recorded this one both in stereo and monaural.

As most of Dorati's performances show, this is also “straightahead” conducting - he is probably very good at conducting such modern compositions. A nice performance.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

8 out of 10
