Comments

Reissue of Mercury MG-10146.

Later reissued as MG-50094 (mono) and SR-50094 (stereo), but I haven't confirmed whether stereo version was actually released.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Janos Starker's first appearances on the Mercury label were as a cellist of the Roth Quartet, first in the final Quartets of Mozart (No. 14-19 were recorded on 13-15 June 1951 and released as MG10108-10, and 20-23 on 14-17 June 1952, MG 10133-4). A week after Kodaly, on 16-17 July 1953, they also recorded Bloch’s Quaret No. 1, MG-50110.

UPDATE (Apr. 22, 2013) :
Ed Reichenbach-san kindly let me know that the Roth Quartet with Starker had already recorded Mozart's Quartets No. 14-23, recorded on June 13-17 1951, that appeared on MG-10108, MG-10109, MG-10110, MG-10133 and MG-10134. Thank you so much for the info!

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
