Inside The Groove

Impressive quartet recording of early European free improvisations.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Zoller, Friedman, Phillips, Humair - nice members. On this album, they try to present fully musical improvisations in very modal mood. Although it's not a cutting-edge explorations, it's really a nice album IMHO.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

8 out of 10

Personnel

Personnel/recorded date/master numbers confirmed with the Ruppli's discography.
(“The Mercury Labels - A Discography” by Ruppli and Novitsky, Greenwood Press, 1993)

The Ruppli book says it was recorded in NYC, but I believe it's incorrect.
I followed the recorded information found at CD reissue by ACT label (ACT 9211-2).

Attila Zoller (g), Don Friedman (p), Barre Phillips (b), Daniel Humair (ds).
Recorded in Berlin, Germany on March 15, 1965.
