Comments

with original Philips inner sleeve.

Inside The Groove

A neat big-band sound dedicated to Hal Kemp by a ex-Hal-Kemp-band vocalist.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Skinnay Ennis, a famous vocalist and a bandleader, was a member of Hal Kemp Orchestra for no less than 13 years. In this album, Edgar Clyde “Skinnay” Ennis tries to re-create the Hal Kemp sound in Hi-Fi Stereo (in the early 1960s). Cup-muted trumpet section, “tuckers” sixteenth notes, and other Kemp sounds are presented here with new breeds.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

7 out of 10
