Comments

Equivalent release: Mercury MG-50266 (mono).

with original Mercury inner sleeve.

RFR pressing: nice sound with beautiful stereophonics and presence, although not the Mercury's best of the bunch. It is probably because that the recording session was made at the Wembley Town Hall, not at the Watford Town Hall (where the best hall-acoustic was available and so many superb-sounding Merc albums were recorded by LSO).

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Although Herbert Menges' interpretation and conducting of this emotional concerto is bit flat and simple, the piano genius Byron Janis presents the finest performance here - his emotional touch makes this album so special.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

8 out of 10
