Inside The Groove

The great harpist/singer Junior Well's funky funky album.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

This LP, recorded in 1968, might be an unusual one for Junior Well among his entire career: he had performed his great blues harp and his own voice on so many great blues album, while this LP features funky and soul tracks which are heavily under JB's influence.

Either on the funk tracks or on the blusy tracks, Junior Well's harp and Buddy Guy's nice guitar are fully featured. Highly recommended album especially for soul/funk lovers. The only drawback is that many tracks are in fake stereo (electrically reproduced stereo from mono masters) - luckily, the killer funky tracks A-1 and A-6 are in true stereo.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

9 out of 10
