MG-20083: Frankie Laine Sings For Us
|
Label Type : | black Mercury type A
Matrix Number : | SIDE-A | MG 20083A MF2 A1 I
SIDE-B | MG 20083B MF2 A1 I |
with original Mercury inner sleeve.
The front cover is entitled “Songs For People Together”, but all others (labels, spine and back cover) says this album's title as “Frankie Laine Sings For Us”.
Another nice compilation (mainly featuring his mellow sides) from Frankie Laine's 1946-1950 Mercury sessions.
Frankie Laine, mostly known as a huge hitter “That's My Desire”, “Rawhide” and many more, is also a great songwriter - such nice compositions like “We'll Be Together Again”, “It Only Happens Once”, “Put Yourself In My Place Baby” proves his talent.
Unlike his most famous Mercury album “That's My Desire” (Mercury MG-20080) - a swingy and jazzy album, this album mostly consists of moody ballads. However on the other hand, this album is very enjoyable, just because his singing has much emotion and consistency.
This 12-inch album surely proves that Frankie Laine was one of the greatest song stylists in the 1940s-1950s.
