Comments

MGW-60001 is an original issue of EmArcy MG-36092.

Inside The Groove

an interesting album featuring Paul Bley's earliest era.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Paul Bley, who played avant-garde free piano in the 1960s, surprisingly started his career as a orthodox boppish style piano player, but with some nuances.

This LP, his second leader album (first LP was on Debut label), captures his early music. Overall impression is “one of the typical boppish piano trio in the middle 1950s”, but his piano already sounds something special with nuances.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

8 out of 10
