Inside The Groove

Billy Taylor's 2nd leader album on Mercury - this time featuring Billy's own compositions performed by the quartet.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Billy Taylor's abstract (but at the same time beautiful) compositions meets beautiful sound of Jim Hall - Billy's melodious piano shows great match with Jim's guitar. As for Jim Hall's performance itself, it sounds so interesting and nice. However, it would be much better if the total mood sounded more soulful and swingy. I like Billy's first Mercury album better.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

7 out of 10
