Comments

Equivalent release: Mercury MG-50320 (mono).

RFR pressing: This earliest RFR-1 pressings sounds rather monaural (such as reververations), although this is exactly stereo issue.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

The Maestro Janos Starker's first appearance on Mercury label was MG-10146, MG-80004 and MG-50094 (KODALY: Quartet No.1, Op.2) recorded in 1953.

And this LP was Janos Starker's first duo session after he signed to Mercury label in 1962. The accompanied piano was played by Gyorgy Sebök, who played most of Starker's duo sessions on this label.

On both tracks, Starker plays so marvellous - spontanous vibrations between the players, the atmospherere, amazingly speedy cello play, but at the same time courteous and beautiful sound - everything's great.

One of my best favourite performances.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
