Inside The Groove
A great and spiritual folk singing by one of the legendary members of the Weavers!
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
The Weavers - Pete Seeger, Fred Hellerman, Lee Hays and Ronnie Gilbert. They were definitely the greatest folk group until they disbanded in December 1963. They left many impacts and influences among the music scene around the world.
Ronnie Gilbert alone left this fine album in 1964. With the help of a guitarist Sam Brown, who did musical directing and arrangements, Ronnie Gilbert chose a fine series of folk songs as well as topical songs written/adapted by Phil Ochs, Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan. She also sang several classic tunes, such as “My Favorite Things” by Rodgers - Hammerstein.
The above fact doesn't mean this LP is a boring and ordinary kind. Actually her singing heard here is awesome. Not only she is so good at singing beautifully, but also her beautiful and talented singing (with solemn and tensed atmosphere) gives rise to our spiritual feelings. Many of us must be moved by her great singing I believe.
A great folk album recorded in the middle 1960s.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
9 out of 10
