Inside The Groove

The flute group Swinging Shepherds' first album on Mercury/EmArcy.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

The Swinging Shepherds, a four flute group consisting of Buddy Collette, Bud Shank, Paul Horn and Harry Klee, left this album in 1958 and MG-20447 in 1959. Well-arranged (by Pete Rugolo) jazzy ensemble sounds rather interesting, but because of the nature of the instrument flute, it seldom sounds so earthy, funky nor swingy.

Very comfortable and enjoyable, but it may be unacceptable for some Jazz fans... I believe this album sounds at least better than their 2nd album left on Mercury :-P

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

7 out of 10
