Comments

Gatefold cover.

with original EmArcy inner sleeve.

Inside The Groove

A nice double album - coupling of “The East Side” (EmArcy MG-36116) and “The West Side” (EmArcy MG-36136).

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

The East Side of New York - (according to the liner-notes) where all clubs are described as “intimate” where they be large or small and all singers spend a good deal of their off-time hunting for offbeat songs about unrequired love.

The West Side of New York - (again, according to the liner-notes) is unhesitatingly identified with a jazz atmosphere, and it's where you find Birdland and the Composer and the Hickory House and the swinging sounds.

On this double album, Patti Page sings the contrasts of East Side (ballad side) and West Side (jazzy and swingy side) with the help of Pete Rugolo Orchestra. An excellent album capturing Patti Page as a Jazz vocalist, as well as her another great album “Patti Page In The Land Of Hi-Fi” (MG-36074 / SR-80000).

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

9 out of 10
