Inside The Groove
River Boat Five's first LP on Mercury - a very happy Dixieland session.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
The rivival of Traditional Jazz, or Dixieland Jazz, would be more common in the 1940s - 1950s. There were so many Dixie-style albums left in the era. This is maybe one of them.
Sometimes I don't come to think which band, which album is “artistically” or “technically” superior ... it doesn't mean anything to me when talking about at least about Dixie. As the jacket cover design shows, it's full of happy moods. Actually on this album, The River Boat Five, although they are not a quintet but a septet, plays so fine. Everybody who listen to this album will get very happy feelings and walk in the line along the music. That's enough.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
7 out of 10
