Inside The Groove
Chet Baker's first leader album on Limelight label - featuring five of his vocal, five others of his flugelhorn.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
Chet Baker of his 1960s - often neglected and low-rated, maybe because his 1950s recordings are mostly greatest. However, if you may listen to the instrumental tracks on this album, you'll agree that Chet Baker is always Chet Baker - A-1, A-3, B-1, B-2 and B-4 proves Chet is one of the greatest improvisers. 9 out of 10 on this side.
On the other hand, his vocal tracks may be delicate - some may love his vocal in his 1960s, but some may don't. Unfortunately accompanied piano by Bobby Scott (heard on A-2, A-5 and B-5) sounds unnaturally bluesy and ineffective, I think... 4 out of 10 on this side.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
6 out of 10
