MGW-12000: A Salute To The Fabulous Dorseys / Buddy Morrow
CommentsMGW-12000 is an original issue of Mercury MG-20204. Inside The GrooveNice danceable big-band ensemble by Buddy Morrow, with fabulous Dorsey Brothers on his mind. Personal Impression (and brief notes)Mercury launched a subsidiary label Wing in this year (later it was changed to a budget low-price series). This is the very first album on the Wing label. This album, a compilation from Buddy Morrow's various sessions in 1955 (some are from the same session as MGW-12006), is definitely a very swingy and danceable big band record. Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)8 out of 10 Track Listing
Personnel
Personnel/recorded date/master numbers confirmed with the Ruppli's discography.
See MGW-12006's personnel, which contains same/similar recorded sessions. Since Scott LaFaro was in the Buddy Morrow's band in Fall 1955 - September 1956, it is highly probable that most of these tunes features Scott LaFaro on bass.
Buddy Morrow (tb, leader) and his Orchestra (detailed personnel unknown).
