MGW-12006: Music For Dancing Feet / Buddy Morrow
Commentswith original Wing inner sleeve. MGW-12006 is an original issue of Mercury MG-20210. A-3 is also available on Wing W90014x45. A-6 is also available on Wing W90063x45. Inside The GrooveA very powerful and danceable big-band ensemble by Buddy Morrow. Personal Impression (and brief notes)Compared with his previous albums like MG-20062, this album rocks and swings so hard. A pretty good album, either as a Dance Music and a Big-Band Jazz. The sound reminds us of the Dorsey's band kind. And the recording date is another important thing: Scott LaFaro was in Buddy Morrow's band in Fall 1955 - September 1956. This album is said to be recorded in 1956, so the bass player for this recording would be Scott LaFaro (but it has not been confirmed). Actually, a very swingy bass play heard on this album sounds so fruitful as LaFaro did... B-6 is a typical example of awesome bass sound. Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)8 out of 10 Track Listing
Personnel
Personnel/recorded date/master numbers confirmed with the Ruppli's discography.
Ruppli's book didn't identify all the exact recording dates and personnels. Some of the below information may include my own guess :) See MGW-12000, which contains same/similar recorded sessions. Since Scott LaFaro was in the Buddy Morrow's band in Fall 1955 - September 1956, it is highly probable that most of these tunes features Scott LaFaro on bass.
