Equivalent release: Mercury MG-20437 (mono).

with original Mercury inner sleeve.

Pressed at the RCA Victor's Indianapolis plant - sounds so crisp!

Inside The Groove

A nice LP playing TV's top themes with the help of Pete Rugolo the arranger.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

After the pianist and the arranger Matt Alagna left Ralph Marterie's band, the band changed its name to “Ralph Marterie and his Marlboro Men”. This era's Marterie band sounds rather corny - full of sudden trumpet riff hitters. This is definitely the bad influence of Matt Alagna's absence (of course it is just in my humble opinion).

Luckily, on this “TV's top theme hits” album, Pete Rugolo had made an important role - although the music does not sound like Marterie's band, most tracks are thrilling as Rugolo's own albums always does.

An unusual occasion - Ralph Marterie with Pete Rugolo as an arranger. Very interesting album indeed.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

7 out of 10
