久々ノ青色音符圓盤復刻

ブルーノート65周年を記念して，本日 20 タイトルが久々に LP 復刻されました．やはり過去に何度となく世界各国でリイシューされている人気盤ばかりなので，新鮮味には欠けますが，今回の目玉は Rudy Van Gelder さん御自身がマスタリングしたテープからのプレス，日本が誇るカッティング職人 小鐡徹 さんによるカッティング，180g 重量盤プレス，という辺りです．

Today is the release date of long-awaited Blue Note LP reissues by Toshiba EMI (20 titles in all). All titles are so famous ones and they have been reissued so many titles until now, but this series are something special - pressed from the tapes mastered by Rudy Van Gelder himself; cutting engineer is the famous Toru Kotetsu; 180g heavy-weight thick flat vinyl pressings.

単価が安くはないので (今回は税込 3,500円)，20枚の中から愛聴盤 3枚だけ選び (Swing Swang Swingin', Midnight Blue, Workout)，あとの 17枚は涙をのんで見送りました．吉祥寺の某店舗では，Blue Train や Somethin' Else の辺りはさすがに人気があるのか，発売日当日ですでに売り切れてました．

Since they are not cheap (3,500 yen including tax), I picked up my favourite albums of three titles (Swing Swang Swingin', Midnight Blue, Workout), and I gave up buying other 17 titles... BTW at a shop nearby, such popular titles as Blue Train and Somethin' Else has already been sold out, even though today is the release day.

肝心の「オト」が期待どおりか否か，今晩確認してみることにします．

I will listen to the LPs tonight to confirm the most important matter - “so how does it sound good?”

で，早速聴いてみたのですが，ステレオ盤のミキシングの具合 (限りなくモノーラルに近いミックスになっています)，オリジナルマスターテープ由来のヒスノイズの聴こえ方，ハイハットの余韻の感じなどから判断して，どうやらこのシリーズは「24bit by RVG」CD シリーズと同一のディジタルマスターを使ってるのではないかという疑念が生じてきました．ともあれ，過去の東芝の LP リイシューと比べると随分 Blue Note らしい音に近いとは思いましたが，キング時代には遠く及ばない，という感じでした．

I finished listening to the copies just now, and I felt suspicious if this series used the same digital masters as “24bit by RVG” CD reissues, judging from near-monaural stereo mixing, how the hiss-noise sounds, how the reverberation of cymbals sounds, etc. Anyway, this series may be the best sounding Toshiba LP, but far below King LPs in my humble opinion...
