Inside The Groove“The Super-Bad Honker” Red Prysock's awesome honkin' album. Personal Impression (and brief notes)Red Prysock. One of the most famous famous honkers. He was a member of Cootie Williams' band, a member of a horn section of Tiny Grimes Rocking Highlanders, and a player of a Tiny Bradshaw's organization. He left finest example of blowin', honkin' style of black Jazz ensemble in his Mercury era in the early 1950s. Of course a 45rpm single records were much common in such category of music (and thus Prysock also left a sort of singles), but this album, a compilation of four sessions circa 1954-1955, also features his nice honking sound. It's interesting to see the name of Blue Mitchell (appeared as “Dick Mitchell” in the liner note on the back cover): he was also a pal in the Tiny Bradshaw's organization. Anyway, I love such hard, blowing, rocking, honking sounds heard on this vinyl. If you love R&B, Jump music or something, you'll like this album. Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)10 out of 10 Track Listing
