Inside The Groove
As the title says, Reeds version of the series of “Sound Adventures” by Pete Rugolo and his pals.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
Pete Rugolo, a famous Stan Kenton band's arranger, joined to Mercury records to produce/supervise various recordings. Along with nice jobs as a producer/superviser, he left a number of his own recordings, most of which were taken in a form of Kenton Orchestra-like jazzy big band.
This “Reeds” album has its brother - the “Brass” album. A fine pair of example of how Pete Rugolo's aggressive and experimental but comfortable arrangements sounds so fine.
