Comments

Equivalent release: Mercury SR-60044 (stereo).
They contains the same tunes, but the album title is slightly different.

Inside The Groove

As the title says, Brass version of the series of “Sound Adventures” by Pete Rugolo and his pals.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Pete Rugolo, a famous Stan Kenton band's arranger, joined to Mercury records to produce/supervise various recordings. Along with nice jobs as a producer/superviser, he left a number of his own recordings, most of which were taken in a form of Kenton Orchestra-like jazzy big band.

This “Brass” album has its brother - the “Reeds” album. A fine pair of example of how Pete Rugolo's aggressive and experimental but comfortable arrangements sounds so fine.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

9 out of 10
