Inside The Groove
A powerful swinger by a big band which consists of great West-Coast studio musicians.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
Terry Gibbs is not only famous as his metallic vibe sound,
but also his great works for The Steve Allen Show during the 1960s.
And we must remember his “Dream Band” - this is one of them.
This album, recorded in the studio, not “in person”,
is the earliest studio recordings among his “Dream Band”
works. This band includes many famous West-Coast studio musicians
such as Conte Candoli, Stu Williamson, Bill Holman, Pete Jolly, Mel Lewis,
and many many others.
Every tunes are popular and familiar ones,
and it seems that the arrangements pay tributes
to great band-leaders in the Swing era,
such as Goodman, Basie, Ellington, Hampton, Dorseys, etc.
A very good album.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
8 out of 10
