Inside The Groove
Very unique bop pianist John Williams' 2nd leader album on EmArcy label.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
John Williams, who is not the same musician as much more popular movie-music composer, but a unique jazz piano player, left two leader albums on EmArcy label. This is the second (and last) one (the other is MG-26047 10-inch).
His piano style sounds the influence of Horace Silver, but more stylish as well as structured. Very impressive trio. The best track should definitely be B-1 “Manteca”, which sounds very percussive, vertical and rhythmic! Unique arrangement of B-2 is also impressive.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
9 out of 10
