Personal Impression (and brief notes)

This is Flip Phillips' second album on Mercury/Clef label (his first album was MG-25023 which was soon after reissued as MG C-105). Unlike his first album, this album is a collection of his 78rpm/45rpm releases.

Side-A features four tracks by Flip Phillips - Howard McGhee Boptet. The contrast between Howard McGhee's brilliant trumpet and Flip Phillips' bold tenor is very refreshing.

Side-B is a collection of his 1949-1951 single releases. All tracks feature trombone player(s) and they sound successfully.
