Limelight Label Variations

Limelight is another famous subsidiary label of Mercury in the 1960s, focusing on Modern Jazz, Soul Jazz, or even experimental sounds.

Dark Green Limelight
[Dark Green Limelight]
Limelight label design has one small “EmArcy Jazz” drummer logo on top, and “limelights” in the background.
Note the “LIMELIGHT RECORDS * VENDOR MERCURY RECORD CORPORATION” printed at the bottom of the label.

Green Limelight A Green Limelight A1
[Green Limelight A] [Green Limelight A1]
Same as the Darkgreen type above, but the background colour is NOT dark but medium green. Mostly the same as Green type, minus “VENDOR MERCURY RECORD CORPORATION” at the bottom.

Green Limelight Promotional
[Green Limelight Promotional]
This label is used for promotional copies.
Note the “FOR BROADCAST ONLY * NOT FOR SALE” printed at the bottom of the label.

Pink Limelight A
[Pink Limglight A]
This pink label was used for later issues in the late 1960s, whose musical genre were dramatically changed. This type was also common for the re-issues in the 1970s-1980s. You can see a very small “Mercury” logo along with a different Limelight logo.
