Mercury Living Presence シリーズ (50400-50499)

“Living Presence” シリーズは， 数ある Mercury レーベルの中でクラシック音楽専門のレーベルです． そのシリーズ名が示す通り，正に「生々しいリアルな」録音で 一世を風靡し，幾多の名演奏を世に送り出しました． この “Living Presence” シリーズは，Mercury レーベルの中でも オーディオファイルの方々にとって最も有名なシリーズです． その為，中古市場では非常に高価で，滅多にお目に掛かれない盤が 数多くあります．

中でも最も有名なのが，1958年から1960年に多くリリースされた， いわゆる “FR プレスもの” といわれるステレオ盤で， これらは最高の音質で知られています． 次いで有名なのが，1960年代にリリースされた “35mm Magnetic Film Recording” でしょう．

モノーラル盤の価格が (同じ演奏のステレオ盤に比べると) 異常に安いのも Jazz や Popular ではありえないことで， なかなか興味深い点です．
