Personal Impression (and brief notes)

This 10-inch album features Sarah Vaughan's first Mercury session (on Feb. 10, 1954) as well as her second Mercury session (on Mar. 29, 1954). It was months before her first jazzy session for the subsidiary EmArcy (on Apr. 2, 1954), which can be heard on MG-26005 and MG-36109. Unlike her masterpiece Jazz albums on EmArcy/Mercury labels, these early sessions are “Pop”. Of course her singing itself is so amazing, but I do not think this arrangement should match her singing artistry.
