MG-25022: Hank Jones' Piano

[Front Cover] Label Type : black/gold Mercury type A
Matrix Number : SIDE-A MG 35014A
SIDE-B MG 35014B

Comments

MG-25022 is an original issue of MG C-100. It is highly probable that MG-25022 was released in a very short period and soon switched to MG-35014 or MG C-100.

The question is, why this disc has “MG 35014” matrix on the dead wax area? Usually Norman Granz' studio sessions (later called as “Mercury Clef Series”) were firstly released in MG-25000 series, then renumbered to MG-35000 series, and finally became MG C-100/500 series. However, this LP don't have “MG 25022” matrix (unlike MG-25023, which was a first issue of MG C-105). I will have to investigate the mysteries in the near future...
