jacket in water damage; but the disc itself is in fine condition.
Inside The Groove
A famous, talented trombone player's debut album.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
Jimmy Cleveland, a very famous trombone player,
is well known as his play in Lionel Hampton road band
or Quincy Jones Orchestra, or under Jimmy Richards, or even much more.
Of course he left many of fine Hard-Bop albums, some of which as a leader,
some as a sideman.
This all-star album, a Cleveland's first leader album,
presents his finest ability - his own tone is heart-warming,
and his own phrase runs very fast with awesome technique.
Another key person of this album is Quincy Jones,
an arranger, musical director, and a Jimmy's old Hampton colleague.
We can even enjoy Ernie Royal's high-tone, Lucky Thompson's unique tenor play,
and much more. It's maybe one of Jimmy's greatest album ever.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
10 out of 10
