Comments
Equivalent release: EmArcy SRE-66003 (stereo).
Although this disc is mid-1960s pressing, it actually sounds very nice.
Inside The Groove
Jimmy Cleveland's fourth leader album, which was originally intended as EmArcy MG-36160 (which was unreleased).
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
Jimmy Cleveland recorded this album in 1959, which was originally intetended as EmArcy MG-36160. However, it was unreleased at that time and renumbered as Mercury MG-20450 / SR-60135, which were again unreleased by unknown reason. In 1965, the materials finally appeared on this album EmArcy MGE-26003 / SRE-66003.
Benny Golson, Jerome Richardson, Art Farmer were Jimmy's pals in other EmArcy/Mercury sessions. On this straightahead jazz session, they plays very spontaneously and so boppish. Jimmy's trombone is so technical and marvellous as always.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
8 out of 10
