A scratch on A-1 that did skip: I tried to fix it, and it was a success :)

Inside The Groove
Paul Quinichette's last recording on EmArcy label, featuring Quincy Jones as an arranger..
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
The “Vice Pres”'s finest recording on EmArcy should definitely be a series of 1951-1953 sessions, heard on MG-26021, MG-26022 and MG-26035. This album, recorded in late 1954, features slightly unusual session by Paul Quinichette - not a relaxed swingy session; it's lazy but tensed recording with flute and percussions.
The head was Quincy Jones - who gradually started to play one of the most important role of EmArcy (and Mercury) Jazz recordings. Instead of setting up pre-bop mainstream session, Quincy might prefer to use flute (here Sam Most and Herbie Mann joined in). The result, heard on this album, was pretty impressive and unusual.
However, many may think that such style cannot bring out Paul Quinichette's finest ability. Very interesting recording, but it may not be the best of The Vice Pres.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
8 out of 10
