Comments
with original EmArcy inner sleeve.
An earlier pressing than the another copy. The most significant difference is the title on the label: this one's label “LOOK TO THE RAINBOW Featuring DINAH WASHINGTON”, while another copy says “DINAH Featuring DINAH WASHINGTON”.
Against my expectation, sound quality is inferior to second label copy.
Inside The Groove
The Queen's great interpretations of standard songs.
Personal Impression (and brief notes)
Most of her previous EmArcy albums were taken in a form of jam session, featuring many solo space for instrumental musicians. However this album, arranged by Hal Mooney, surely concentrates on Dinah's singings. Most of them are in very slow tempo.
I cannot tell how I am moved by her voice on this album. She just sings in her own way as always, with few improvisation, but her sincere understandings, interpretations, and singings are too perfect ... This is the first Jazz vocal album for me which made me shed emotional tears.
Accompanied musicians such as Georgie Auld or Herb Geller have a certain amount of solo - it's also great. But The Queen's awesome singings comes to the top.
A truely magnificient, greatest album (for me) beyond comparision.
Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)
10000 (or more) out of 10
