Red Prysock さんは，Cootie Williams，Tiny Grimes，Tiny Bradshaw といったバンドを渡り歩いた後，1950年代にソロデビューを果たします．上述のバンドでも聴かせたブリブリお下品ホンカーっぷりはソロになってからも健在で，Mercury レーベルにはそれらの極上部分が数多く残されています．

白眉は，1954年〜1955年のシングルリリースから編集された 1st LP MG-20088 “Rock 'N Roll” と，同じくホンカーである Sil Austin さんとのテナーバトルが収録された MG-20434 / SR-60106 “Battle Royal!“ でしょう．両盤共，Red Prysock の怒涛の勢いで繰り出されるテナーを堪能出来ます．

Mercury 末期の録音の中には，Sil Austin さんばりにムード音楽風なストリングスをバックにした演奏なんていうのもあったりしますが，それらごく一部を除いては概ねヒートアップ間違いなしの素晴しい R&B インストのオンパレードです．

However, it is obvious that such instrument as organ cannot be heard on this disc! I don't understand why Mr. Ruppli made such a mistake - are there any other Red Prysock sessions with Howard Whaley on organ?
