MG-20704: Explosion! / Terry Gibbs And His Exciting Big Band
Commentsstamp on back cover. with original Mercury inner sleeve. Inside The GrooveAnother great big band sound by Terry Gibbs Dream Band, recorded in person. Personal Impression (and brief notes)Terry Gibbs' “Dream Band” is too famous and popular, featuring many talented West-Coast jazz musicians. The sound is actually awesome and full of energy. Mercury catalogue has MG-20440 / SR-60112, which was one of the earliest session by the Dream Band, a studio recording. This album, containing a truely exciting live recording, was recorded and released by Mercury in the early 1960s - however, long after its out-of-print status, finally it is now available as a recent CD reissue CCD-7657-2, released under Contemporary label by Fantasy. Although they play no “evolutionary” “experimental” presentation, it's nothing but swingy. One of the most greatest straight-ahead big band jazz recording in the 1960s by the cream of the West-Coast jazz musicians. Also, a superb entertainment live recording. Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)10 out of 10 Track Listing
