Comments

with original EmArcy inner sleeve.

Although not the earliest copy (with MS1 A1 matrix), this copy really sounds great!

Inside The Groove

Terry Gibbs' swingin' session - a prologue to his later big-band success.

Personal Impression (and brief notes)

Terry Gibbs' previous EmArcy albums featured his artistry as a vibraphonist, in a form of small combo. But this time, Terry Gibbs try to expand his swingin' sound in a form of big band. Actually, he made a huge success with his swingin' big band, so we may say this album was a first step to later big-band success.

There are talented arrangers featured on this session - Ernie Wilkins, Bob Brookmeyer, Manny Albam and Al Cohn. We can also enjoy the diversity of arrangements all of which really sounds fine and “swingy”.

Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)

10 out of 10
