SR-80015: Max Roach With The Boston Percussion Ensemble / Max Roach
CommentsEquivalent release: EmArcy MG-36144 (mono). Later reissued as Mercury MG-20529 (mono) and Mercury SR-60206 (stereo). with original Mercury inner sleeve. Inside The GrooveAn awesome banquet of percussions - by Max Roach and great percussionists. Personal Impression (and brief notes)Actually nothing but awesome... It's not a jazz recording. Not a classical music either. A truely thrilling momemnt of rhythms. It's not a kind of modest and well-organized things. It just swings, rocks, and rolls. A great work. I love this music, although most “Jazz” fans don't like this kind of sound much. Another notable thing for this album is its true high-fidelity: As the matrix number says (see the prefix FR, and the pressing plant indicator I), it's a same pressing as legendary “Living Presence” series, pressed with RCA Victor's high quality plant. The sound is really great, with few scratches, bumps and surface noise. This disc is in rather excellent condition. Strictly Personal Rating (to what extent I could enjoy this album)10 out of 10 Track Listing
