My Best 5 Acquisitions in 2005

あっという間に2005年は過ぎ、2006年を迎えました。今年も宜しくお願いします。

The year 2005 passed so fast, and here comes the next year 2006 already. I sincerely hope you’ll have another nice year as vinyl/music collectors.

昨年1年間は、コレクターとしてはあまり成果があった年とはいえませんでしたが、またまたいろんな音楽に出会うことができました。振り返って個人的ベスト 5 (プラス、番外編) を列挙してみましょう。

苦節うん年。夢にまで見たアルバムをやっと入手しました。

Finally, I have acquired the famous 78rpm album which I’d been dreaming of for several years.

Force / Max Roach & Archie Shepp

言うまでもなく、ジャズドラムの可能性を極限まで引き出し、新たな世界を確立することに成功した巨人 Max Roach。戦後ジャズ史に燦然と輝く多数の名演奏を残した Brown=Roach Quintet 時代や、1960年代のアメリカという時代を反映した諸作に勢い評価が傾きがちですが、1970年代以降の作品にも注目すべき作品は少なくありません。

The Jazz Giant Max Roach was, of course, one of the most important Jazz drummers who explored the possibilities of drumming. His greatest works include the legendary Brown=Roach Quintet, and his numerous works in the 1960s which reflects the atmosphere of the 1960’s USA. However in the 1970s, he recorded several albums which were also far above his average.

Universal “Jazz The Best” LP Collection is out

久々に期待していた 今回の日本盤 LP リイシュー。全20タイトル中本日10タイトルが発売されました。さてさて、肝心の「おと」の方はどうでしょう? さすがに全タイトルは買えないので、とりあえず EmArcy の 2タイトルだけ買ってみました。

The long-awaited LP reissue series by Universal Music Japan is out. Among 20 titles in all, 10 titles have been released today. Well, how does they “sound” anyway? I can’t afford to buy all titles, so this time I bought two EmArcy titles.
